Carolyn Reuben is an acupuncturist, journalist, health educator, and consultant.

Carolyn has lectured at state and national conferences, written magazine articles on pharmaceutical-free treatments for addiction recovery, taught the 5-Point Ear Treatment to medical professionals, and helped addiction treatment facilities add nutrition and acupuncture programs to their existing protocols. She cofounded a nonprofit in Sacramento, California, called Community Addiction Recovery Association and directed a comprehensive acupuncture, nutrition, and mind-body exercise protocol at various treatment programs including the Sacramento County Probation Department’s Adult Drug Court for 18 years.

AWARD

In1999 Carolyn was given the Harold Cole Annual Memorial Award for Outstanding Contributions in the Field of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Outreach Prevention and Treatment by the Sacramento County Alcohol and Drug Advisory Board.

EDUCATION

Carolyn graduated from UC Berkeley in sociology, worked as a social worker for Alameda County and then as a production assistant for an educational television series in Israel, studied motion pictures and television at UCLA, and worked in media in Los Angeles. After receiving her California license as an acupuncturist in 1983, Carolyn studied for four months in China before opening her private acupuncture practice.

She studied with Julia Ross, MA to learn the use of amino acids for addictive disorders, and helped produce two weekend conferences in Sacramento for national audiences on the use of nutrition for addiction and mental health disorders which led to the founding of the Alliance for Addiction Solutions.
