Join us for the Alliance for Addiction Solutions Monthly educational forum, featuring John C. Umhau, MD MPH CPE

Dr.  John Umhau, MD MPH CPE FASAM, gives frequent lectures on the treatment of alcoholism and is considered a leader in this field. His private medical practice, Alcohol Recovery Medicine, is devoted entirely to the treatment of Alcohol Use Disorder. During his twenty-year career at National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, he authored numerous papers related to alcohol use disorder, focusing on medication development and the effect of diet on neuroinflammation and psychopathology. As a United States Public Health Service officer, he served with the FDA in the Division of Psychiatric Products, and as medical director of the Whiteriver Indian Hospital.

Dr. Umhau earned a BS at Davidson College, a MD at Wake Forest University a MPH at Johns Hopkins University, and is a certified physician executive. He completed a residency in Clinical Preventive Medicine at Johns Hopkins University and is board certified in both Addiction Medicine and Preventive Medicine.
